A Shreveport woman has been arrested for hitting her 5-year-old daughter in the face with a belt as she was spanking her. Sharonda Anderson was booked into the City Jail on a charge of cruelty to a juvenile. Police said officers could see an imprint from the belt buckle on the child's cheek. Police said Anderson told them she was trying to spank her daughter when the child moved, causing the belt to hit her in the face. Last week, a Bossier Parish man was booked for aggravated battery when he allegedly hit all three of his children at the same time. His wife was also hit when she intervened, said sheriff's deputies, who concluded the man's actions were excessive. Return to Front page
