Robeson County district attorney Johnson Britt says he won't pursue charges against a teacher accused of using excessive force when he punished a student. Britt says corporal punishment was not used to intentionally hurt the 12-year-old boy when the incident occurred at Rowland Middle School on September 12th. [Emphasis added] He says in making his decision he considered the school system's policy on the use of corporal punishment and the fact that the boy's mother had given consent. Tina Morgan says her son, who's in the seventh grade, had bruises on his body. The teacher was suspended for one day while school officials conducted an investigation.
